Gather round at Locke: Berlin’s best festive activities.

Experience the German capital as it becomes a haven for Christmas markets. Expect ice skating, markets full of handmade goods and delicious treats. Here’s our rundown of the best of Berlin’s festivities over November and December.

This year at Locke we’re celebrating getting together to cheers for the year gone-by. Whether it's with a trip to the Christmas markets, a fancy dinner or even cosying up in your apartment with some wine, cheese and crackers. It’s up to you. But we’re here to help.

If you're heading to Berlin, we’ve put together a guide of our favourite festive markets around the city, where you can slide down a 12-foot toboggan, stroll through charming huts, sipping mulled wine. November and December are scheduled to be packed with festive fun.

Christmas Garden at the Botanical Gardens.

17th November – 14th January, Botanical Gardens, Königin-Luise-Straße 6-8, 14195 Berlin.

Take in the magical illuminations as Berlin’s Botanical Gardens Winter Trail enters its seventh year. Expect Christmas lights, illuminations and a festive soundtrack to match. With a newly illuminated circular path, it’s the perfect spot for a festive evening with friends and family.

Festive market at Charlottenburg Palace.

27th November – 31st December, Charlottenburg Palace, Spandauer Damm 10-22, 14059 Berlin.

Probably one of the city’s most picturesque locations at the best of times. Enjoy the Festive Market at Charlottenburg Palace, with over 250 stalls, selling Christmas treats, crafts and gifts. You can also snack on favourites such as stollen, marzipan loaves and more sweet treats.

Festive Market on Gendarmenmarkt (Bebelplatz).

27th November – 31st December, Bebelplatz, 10117 Berlin.

Snack on roasted almonds and chestnuts whilst sipping on mulled wine. One of the city’s largest festive markets, you’ll find a range of artisanal gifts and crafts, from wood carvers to tailors. Cosy up with a hot drink in one of the heated tents, or traditional snacks while wandering through the market.

Winter World on Potsdamer Platz.

28th October – 1st January, Potsdamer Platz, 10785 Berlin.

One for the adventure-seekers. Berlin’s ‘Winterwelt’ is a highlight in Berlin’s festive fun. Try your luck on the 12-metre-high and 70-metre-long winter slide. Complete with snow and ice, the toboggan has views of the Brandenburg Gate. Then fuel up on bratwurst, mulled wine and other festive treats.

Artisan Advent: The Arts and Crafts Advent Market on Karl-August-Platz.

3rd December and 10th December, Karl-August-Platz, 10625 Berlin
